OMG! I finished a thing!

 

When it comes to accessories, no good working Italian woman would be without an apron. These come in especial handy if you're me, as I either hide from people by volunteering in the kitchen or am prone to spilling things on myself. Because of this, I have some very utilitarian linen aprons that protect me from myself and provide the requisite kitchen camouflage, and now am the proud owner of my second purely decorative one.

Our friends at The Realm of Venus have collected some wonderful extant examples - arguably more decorative than functional - that served as inspiration for where I decided to go with this fancy thing: lace, a bit of lace, and some more lace. And, for practical reasons, I hand-sewed the whole thing. I've honestly forgotten when I started it, but it's definitely measurable in years, so I'm very pleased to be able to check it off of my UFO list:

Just needs a quick iron, and she's ready to hit the streets!
